Weekend

We started the weekend (I count Thursdays as the start of the weekend sometimes) with Mandy's golden 25th birthday downtown at Jackson Street Tavern.  We haven't made it downtown for a while so it was nice to go back there and experience the Old Market for a few hours.  My goal was to eat Ted and Wally's, but by the time we left-there was a line out the door so we decided to go to DQ instead.

Mandy's birthday card-she loves the Biebs!

Me and the golden birthday girl!  I look extra shiny-it was hot!

Saturday Josh and I went golfing with Ed and Patty at Pacific Springs.  I can still manage 9 holes, but I have noticed my swing is a little off due to my growing belly and sometimes I get a little winded!  It's still fun to be outdoors and stay somewhat active though!  The weather was perfect in the morning.

That evening we went to our family friend Pat & Jane Wilkins' wedding in Lincoln.  It was outdoors at the Sheldon Art Museum and reception at the Apothecary.  I wish I would have taken more pictures.  :(  Josh and I left for a bit to try Brix & Stone Gastro Pub in the Hay Market and it was DELICIOUS.  Highly recommend!

Beef brisket wontons with Thai chili sauce-SO GOOD!

Some sort of stuffed chicken with gouda cheese and mashed potatoes

Hawaiian pizza-one of the best I've ever had!

Mom getting rowdy!

He loved holding Molly while she was asleep <3

My phone couldn't capture them quick enough so all of these pics turned out blurry :(

BFFs
On a different note, I have been starting to feel the baby kick a lot lately!  In the last week he has started kicking me at random times of the day...and a lot harder than the flutters I was feeling before!  So crazy.  Sometimes it's in the same spot and then a few minutes later it can be somewhere else.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised given his ultrasound (he wouldn't stop moving!).  Now it seems like I feel him early in the morning, after I eat or drink something sweet and before bed.  But mainly after I eat he seems to "wake up" and start going crazy! haha I love it!  I can't wait until Josh can feel him too!

We're getting ready to go to the Ozarks with Josh's side of the family tomorrow.  I've never been so excited to see what it's all about!

Crazy Month

I need to remember to post more!  Maybe there really is such a thing as pregnancy brain? :)  In my defense, it has been a really busy month.

Anyway, here's some updates on what we've been up to recently:

Last weekend we started registering for baby.  (so much fun but also a little overwhelming!)  We are starting with Pottery Barn Kids and Amazon.com Baby.  I've been asking friends/relatives/co-workers what they think are essential items to get and also just searching the internet for lists to give us some ideas.  So...any of you reading this, please feel free to contribute to my list in the comments section!

This is kind of how I felt about registering for our wedding...a little unsure of what we actually needed, awkward about expensive items and not sure I wanted to even bother with some of the little things.  Apparently this is all normal and they recommend you just do it and get over yourself.  There are so many things out there it's sometimes hard to even know where to start.  This time around (as opposed to wedding registry) it's more fun, though, because it's for our little guy and baby stuff is just so darn cute!  So I guess you could say it's a "work-in-progress" for now.  We still have some time. :)

Speaking of that, we've decided to go with a navy blue wall, two green (think grass color) walls and one chevron grey and white striped wall.  (My favorite color is blue and Josh's is green so we had to make a little compromise)  As for bedding, I guess you get several pairs of sheets/blankets so we started by registering for the Pottery Barn Kids sports-themed bedding.  I think we'll probably just incorporate it more with paintings/pictures/wall decor, etc. than focusing on bedding now.  (this is so exciting to read, isn't it?!)

Saturday we ended up going to our friend's Adam and Kristen's family lake house on Beaver Lake.  The weather was perfect (even though it was hot, there was a nice breeze) and we took a couple cruises around the lake in their pontoon bot and then just chilled the rest of the evening.  Adam's sister is around 6 months pregnant so we had some good pregnancy talks!  (On a side note:  I can't believe I'm halfway done!  It's really gone by fast-I can't even imagine the next half!  So much going on in our lives it's easy to lose track of time and before you know it, it's going to be December and someone special will be making his debut! <3)

Sunday we went to see the Dark Knight Rises.  It was really good!  We spent the rest of the night having a Lost-marathon and catching up on our shows.  (By the way, True Blood needs to get it together.  That last episode was a snooze fest!  Nothing happened.)

I had to go to Dallas for work Monday-Wednesday and was a little anxious as it was my first time flying as a preggo and sleeping in a strange hotel room without my other half. haha (I don't think I've ever referred to him as my "other half" before)  Anyway, the trip was great-weather was pretty hot but nothing different than what it's been in Omaha!  I went to dinner with an old work friend in one of my favorite neighborhoods (Knox-Henderson), went to my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant Mi Cocina for lunch, a Chihluly traveling outdoor art exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum for a team outing (if I was getting married in Dallas, I'd totally have the wedding there-GORGEOUS!) and finally dinner in our old neighborhood at a DELICIOUS new restaurant called Del Frisco's.  (daydreaming of their jalapeno mac n' cheese with bacon right now...so much for keeping my pregnancy weight under control ;) )

Chihuly sculpture that reminded me of Nebraska :)

I got a little nostalgic about being back in our old stomping grounds of a year, but I think I was mainly just reminiscing about our favorite places we discovered together, our cute little apartment in the best neighborhood ever, getting Sookie, and just random fun times we had exploring the city and wishing Josh was there with me to relive some of them.  I love being home, but it's cool to go back to another place we called home, even if it was just for a short time.

Speaking of home, I had the sweetest surprise waiting for me when I got back from Dallas last night!  Josh (the best husband in the world!) surprised me by picking out some animal/safari-themed nursery things and set them up in the baby's room!  He purposely chose animal prints (specifically monkeys-one of my favorite animals) for me since I had been talking about really wanting to incorporate some in the nursery, so at least now we can switch out animals and sports!  I was completely surprised and it was the greatest feeling.  He's so thoughtful and sweet-I almost cried!  He went with his mom to Target and said that it was surreal picking out baby clothes.  I still have yet to buy anything, but I think that will soon change!  We're going to the Ozarks with Josh's side of the family and some of their family friends next week and rumor has it there is an awesome outlet mall!  (Really want to check out Coach to see if they have any diaper bags and of course Carters and all of the baby stores!)

Jamming out with baby at work!

Using the LullaBelly to listen to some tunes at the office and our little guy seems to love it!  We have a variety of different types of music on our baby playlist, but I've never felt the flutters as much as I have when the classical baby Einstein music comes on. Crazy!

Bad blogger...

I haven't blogged for almost 2 weeks!?  What is the world coming to!?  Just kidding...I've been on VACAY!

So much has happened in the last couple of weeks-we just got back from a week-long trip with my parents, Jenny/Dan/Boys/Molly and the Wilkins to Ten Mile Lake in Northern Minnesota...one of my favorite places on earth!  So beautiful and peaceful up there.  A nice getaway.  Once we upload the 2,000 pictures we took with our new camera (also a new development-we got a SWEET Canon EOS 60D -I think-which is amazing.  Just call us PAPARAZZI from now on, because you know we'll be taking yo' picture 24/7! hahaha) I'll post the Picasa link in this post!

Molly and Uncle "Dah!"

Onto the really big and exciting news...

We had our 19 week ultrasound last Friday and we found out that we are having a BOY!!!  It was seriously one of the coolest things I've ever experienced and I'm so glad Josh and I got to experience it together.  To think that a few months back at our first ultrasound, he was just a little blob is crazy.  Now he looks like an actual little man-with perfect little arms, legs, body and profile!  We love him so much already.  He's perfect.

When the nurse asked if we wanted to know the gender it took about 2 seconds to realize we were having a boy!  He was in the prime position to show off his goods!  haha (By the way, everyone has seemed to be quite impressed with that image...yes, we posted it on FaceBook-it's a BABY people, chill out :)  My only concern was him being mad at us when he's older-but if he's anything like me and Josh-he'll laugh about it and think it's hilarious one day)

Anyway, I have a feeling he is going to be really active already-he would NOT stop moving for the ultrasound nurse (sonographer?) so it took a while longer to get all of the shots that she needed.  P.S. I love Methodist Women's hospital!  They gave us a DVD of the ultrasound that we've already watched about 10 times.  So nice of them and such a great thing to have to look at and eventually look back on.

I've been noticing more flutters lately-always a nice little surprise when I'm least expecting it!  Can't wait for the big kicks that will start in the coming weeks!

Now that we know, we are getting started on the nursery (Josh and his dad put together the crib this weekend!) and registering.  It feels like time is starting to really fly by now!

That last pic is of Sookie sleeping in a strange position...just felt like posting it :)  She looked like she lost weight while we were gone!

Weekend fun

This past weekend was a lot of fun spending time with both of our families...lunch date with Jenny, Ben and Molly on Friday, golfing Saturday AM with Patty, Ed and Josh, pedi with Jenny for her birthday, pool time, dinner at Mark's, my first eCreamery experience (sweet cream gelato + sprinkles + sugar cone=my preggo heaven!), Jenny's birthday, lots of Molly! (please see adorable pic Jenny sent me from her daycare today of Molly decked out in 4th of July gear) and finally, meeting the newest member of the Carbullido family, Lauren Elizabeth who was born early this morning!  (Bottom left and center)  She has tons of hair and is so precious-baby fever is in full-effect! ;)

Pinterest wisdom...

I was on Pinterest over my lunch break (for the first time in a while) and began looking back at some of my favorite quotes that I've found on there...I like to look at my "Things that make me smile" board every once in a while-depending on the day, I think it really helps to put things in perspective or motivate me:

I completely believe this one.

So far, this has been pretty spot on ;)

Great reminder

I feel like this is given to a lot of people out there in the current working world...

Amen!

Probably one I should post in my cube :)

Absolutely!

Bizarre Dreams

These dreams are just getting weirder and weirder...and now Josh is starting to have "pregnancy dreams" as well! haha

My latest vivid-dream was again, me having a baby girl, except my mom told me I couldn't feed her after she was born for a couple of days...weird?  I remember thinking, "I read that they eat right away and then every couple of hours!"  It was really confusing.  And then I got a really bad cold so they said I couldn't even breastfeed her if I wanted to because I could pass it on?  Not the "craziest" dream but again, these have been so real when I have them that it's hard to remember it's just a dream.

Then, Josh had a dream the other night where I woke him up in the middle of the night and told him it was time to go to hospital and 5 minutes after we arrived the baby just came out really easily haha!  (that would be GREAT!) I think he said we had a girl that time too!

I know there's been more and they've been really strange, (I can't remember them all) but these baby girl dreams have me wondering if we really are having a girl now?  I seriously cannot wait to find out in 2 WEEKS!!!  As you can tell, I've been obsessing over it a little bit. It's just so exciting to know what you're having and, at least for me, I think we'll be able to really connect more knowing who's in there and giving them a name early on.  I can't imagine waiting the full 9 months-more power to you if you can do that, but both of us are too impatient to wait!  Maybe by the time we have another baby we'll want to do that, but for the first one, I can't wait to find out!
